We all know the noise levels a filled FNB Stadium can create when Kaizer Chiefs meet Orlando Pirates in a Soweto derby, but Africa's biggest arena was omitted from a list of the loudest stadiums worldwide.

French publication France Football recently pre-selected 30 stadiums and then ranked them based on their noise levels and atmospheres.
Four stadiums in Africa – but none from South Africa – were chosen for the list, which is based on how passionate and unified, at times even hostile, crowds get as they support their teams from the stands.

Stade Olympique de Rades (28th position), home of Tunisian side Esperance Sportive, Stade Du 5 Juillet 1962 (27th), home of Algerian giants MC Alger, Stade Mohammed V (20th), which hosts Morocco's Raja Casablanca, and Al Ahly's home ground, the Cairo International Stadium (16th), made the list, but were all outside the top 10.
Manchester United's Old Trafford, Real Madrid's Santiago Bernabeu and FC Barcelona's Camp Nou also failed to make France Football's top 30, which is topped by Boca Junior's famous home ground, La Bombonera.

The Argentine side is known for its hostile crowds and great derby atmosphere when facing bitter rivals River Plate. Borussia Dortmund's Signal Iduna Park and Liverpool's Anfield complete the top three – you can see the top 12 in the gallery above!
