Cristiano Ronaldo Breaks Club World Cup Record

Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has once again written his name in the history books, this time at the FIFA Club World Cup for breaking a record jointly held by Lionel Messi, among others.

The Portuguese scored his side's equaliser as Real came from behind to beat Al Jazira to book their ticket in the final against Gremio.

The goal was Ronaldo's sixth in the competition – more than any other player in Club World Cup history.

This is the fourth time Ronaldo has participated in the tournament, having won it on the previous three occasions. He scored one goal with Manchester United in 2008, as well as four with Los Blancos in last year's tournament, but did not find the back of the net in 2014.

His goal against Al Jazira took his overall tally to six goals in the competition, one more than Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Cesar Delgado, who have all scored five goals at the Club World Cup.

The strike was also Ronaldo's 31st goal in international competitions in 2017, with 20 of those coming for Real and another 11 with Portugal.
