However, Gundogan was linked with a move to Turkey earlier this month while he is now reportedly a target for teams in the Saudi Pro League.
Director of the Competition Committee in the Saudi Football Federation, Saad Al-Ladhim also recently revealed that Gundogan did reject an offer to move to the Saudi Arabian league to join Barcelona.
Xavi, however, was bemused by the midfielder's links with the Saudi Pro League ahead of Saturday's clash against Rayo.
When asked if about the Saudi interest in Gunodgan, Xavi told reporters, "But he's looking for a house here?"
"From a Saudi Arabian paper? Goodness. Shukran [Thank You in Arabic]," he laughed.
Xavi also confirmed the will look to use the January transfer window for another midfielder after Gavi's season-ending injury.
"Substituting Gavi? There is nothing to announce. We will speak with Deco to see what we can do," he said, as per Football Espana.
"I am in contact with the president and with Deco on a daily basis. We will announce what we deem appropriate.
"They know my position and I know theirs and from there, it is about finding a consensus. Evidently we are losing a footballer for the whole season, and see will see what we can do and we will see if we can bring someone in."
