Barca 'Readying' Themselves For Haaland Move

Barca 'Readying' Themselves For Haaland Move

Barcelona are reportedly plotting a plan to lure Erling Haaland to the Camp Nou in a couple of years' time.

With Robert Lewandowski only getting older, Barcelona are reportedly positioning themselves to replace the Pole with superstar forward Erling Haaland.

While the Blaugrana have got off to an unbeaten start in LALIGA this season, their performances have perhaps suggested there is still much work to be done if they are to retain their title.

The Catalan giants have already scored eight goals in the opening four matchdays of the new campaign, but it seems they believe they could be scoring a lot more if the Norwegian was at their disposal, and consequently are believed to have begun the process to position themselves financially to be able to acquire the 23-year-old in a couple years' time.

The Scandinavian hitman was in supreme form last season, when he scored a remarkable 52 goals in 53 games across all competitions on his way to breaking multiple records, while also capturing the European Golden Shoe and Premier League Golden Boot.

According to 90min, the Citizens are keen to reward the 2023 Ballon d'Or frontrunner with a bumper new deal for his exploits, but it appears Haaland may not be keen to tie himself down long-term at the Etihad Stadium just yet.

The same report claims that in his current City deal, he has a £150 million (R3.5 billion) release clause that kicks in in 2025, and given how well he has performed for the Mancunians so far, they want to avoid any looming departure.

It is this mooted release clause which has given reportedly given Barca the belief that they can sign him.

While they are currently still reeling from their precarious financial position, the club is said to have deemed two years as enough time to organise their fiscal matters in such a way that the ex-Borussia Dortmund man's acquisition is possible.
