Manchester City advanced to the FA Cup semi-finals, after goals from David Silva and Sergio Aguero secured a 2-0 win over Middlesbrough at the Riverside.
City broke the deadlock after just two minutes when Yaya Toure played in Pablo Zabaleta, who fired into the box, where Silva volleyed home from close range.
The home side nearly pulled a goal a back after 23 minutes but Rudy Gustede's towering header was cleared off the line by Zabaleta.
Pep Guardiola's charges continued to dominate in the first half, but could not add to their advantage as the likes of Leroy Sane and Raheem Sterling failed to convert their chances.
Middlesbrough could only register two efforts on target in the opening 45 minutes, as the score remained 1-0 to the visitors at the break.
The visitors nearly doubled their lead in the 51st minute, but Brad Guzan produced a superb save to deny Sergio Aguero from close range.
City eventually doubled their lead in the 67th minute, as Sane found the run of Aguero, who fired past Guzan with a clincal finish.
Boro nearly pulled a goal back in the 77th minute but John Stones was on hand to clear Fabio Da Silva's effort off the line.
Nonetheless, the score remained 2-0 to the Citizens, as they secure their ticket to Wembley Stadium for the semi-finals.
