FA Cup Report: Manchester City v Fulham 26 January 2020

Result: Manchester City 4-0 Fulham

Date: 26 January 2020

Venue: Etihad

FA Cup holders Manchester City cruised into the fifth round with a 4-0 triumph over Championship outfit Fulham on Sunday afternoon.

Despite the level of opposition, Pep Guardiola went with a relatively strong line up that included Bernardo Silva, Riyad Mahrez and Gabriel Jesus in the attack.

The Championship outfit got off to a dreadful start as captain Tim Ream was shown a straight red card for bringing down Jesus in the box, which allowed Ilkay Gündogan to slot home the opening goal from 12-yards out.

The second goal arrived in the 19th minute as Bernardo Silva twisted and turned on the edge of the box before drilling the ball into the bottom corner.

With Fulham struggling to carve out any openings going the other way, Guardiola's men were in full control but were unable to bag another goal for the remainder of the half.

Mahrez was taken off shortly after the halftime break for Raheem Sterling, who went close to adding a third on 58 minutes when he rattled the frame of goal from close range.

Jesus got the Citizens' third goal on 74 minutes with a neat header at the far post from Joao Cancelo's neat cross, with the Video Assistant Referee confirming the striker was on side.

The Brazilian claimed his second and City's fourth goal a minuter later as nodded into an empty net to extend the home side's lead after Phil Foden's initially strike was saved as the home side cruised to the next round.
