FA Cup
Result: Chelsea 1-0 Manchester United
Date: 13 March 2017
Venue: Stamford Bridge
Manchester United were dumped out of the FA Cup, after suffering a 1-0 defeat to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Monday evening.
The Red Devils enjoyed an encouraging start to the encounter with Paul Pogba and Ander Herrera seeing a lot of the ball.
David De Gea was called upon after 15 minutes when he produced two fine saves in quick succession to deny Eden Hazard and Gary Cahill.
Jose Mourinho's charges were then reduced to 10 men after 36 minutes when Herrera was sent off for picking up a second yellow card.
The tempo of the game died down following Herrera's sending off, as the sides went into the break with the score locked at 0-0.
However, Chelsea eventually broke the deadlock after 51 minutes as N'Golo Kante was afforded space and he drilled the ball home from 20-yards out.
United should have been level in the 58th minute, as Marcus Rashford was left one-on-one with Thibaut Courtois, but the striker fired straight at the Blues shot-stopper.
With the visitors struggling to carve out openings, Mourinho introduced Jesse Lingard for Ashely Young after 80 minutes.
Mourinho's men pushed an equaliser in the closing stages but were unable to bypass a stubborn Chelsea defence.
Nonetheless, the score remained 1-0 at full-time whistle, as Chelsea join Arsenal, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur in the semi-finals.
