Full Time: Cardiff 0-2 Manchester City
Date: 28 January 2018
Venue: Cardiff City Stadium
Manchester City cruised into the next round of the FA Cup after comfortably beating Cardiff City 2-0 in the fourth round of the competition at Cardiff City Stadium on Sunday.
City took the lead as early as the eighth minute when Kevin De Bruyne fired home a low 24-yard free-kick that went under the wall and left the keeper stranded, 1-0.
In the 25th minute City thought they had doubled their lead when Bernardo Silva found the back of the net, but his goal was disallowed because he was in an off-sides position.
In the 37th minute the English Premier League did find their second goal when Raheem Sterling met a cross from Silva and headed home from close range, 2-0.
City continued to press forward, but Cardiff made it to the half time break without conceding another goal.
Cardiff started the second half a bit better and created their first real scoring chance ten minutes into the second half when Kenneth Zohore made his way into the box, but his 14-yard shot went inches wide of the post.
In the 68th minute Cardiff came close to pulling a goal back again when Junior Hoilett saw his long range shot skim the wrong side of the woodwork.
City took control of the game after that and nearly found their third goal in the 76th minute when Raheem Sterling broke through on goal, but he was superbly thwarted by the Cardiff goalkeeper.
City took their foot off the pedal in the final ten minutes and cruised to a comfortable victory.
The match ended on an even more sour note for Cardiff who were reduced to ten men in the 92nd minute when Joe Bennett received his second yellow card.
