'Why Liverpool Won't Re-Sign Raheem Sterling'

'Why Liverpool Won't Re-Sign Raheem Sterling'

After Manchester City forward Raheem Sterling hinted at a sensational return to Liverpool, a former Premier League star has explained why he believes the Reds are unlikely to re-sign their former star.

Earlier this month, upon being asked about a potential return to Liverpool, Sterling confessed that he still held an affection for his former club despite the controversial nature of his departure to City in 2015.

A source close to the player fuelled speculation even further less than a week later, when he revealed that Sterling remained grateful to the Reds for the contribution the club had made in his career, and that the door was not closed on a return.

Former Premier League Golden Boot winner Kevin Phillips does not see that happening, however, and shared his view that Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp would not want to disrupt his dressing room by bring Sterling into the fold.

"I just question whether Klopp would want all of the hoorah that comes with it," Phillips told Football Insider.

"They have got a settled bunch there."
