The real reason for Pep Guardiola extending his contract with Manchester City has now reportedly been revealed.
The Spanish manager officially put pen-to-paper on two-year extension last week, calming the nerves of City supporters as his previous deal was set to expire next year.

Now according to the Telegraph, Guardiola claims now is not the time to leave as the current squad needs a rebuild, which he feels will take at least two more years to finish.
City are certainly enduring their worst patch of form under Guardiola, as they have failed to win their last six matches across all competitions, including a 3-3 draw with Feyenoord in a game where they led 3-0 with 15 minuets to play on Wednesday.
The report adds that the rebuild is likely to start in the January transfer window, as they look to add a replacement for Rodri who is expected to return for the rest of the season after undergoing knee injury.
The Premier League champions have been linked with Real Sociedad star Martin Zubimendi and Atalanta midfielder Ederson, who is also a reported target for rivals Manchester United.
Guardiola's charges are currently second on the Premier League, eight points behind leaders Liverpool who they face at Anfield on Sunday evening.
