The Highest-Paid Players At Chelsea After Reece James Deal

With Chelsea defender Reece James recently signing a new six-year contract at Stamford Bridge, here are the highest-paid players at the Blues following that deal.

One of the main priorities for the post-Roman Abramovich era in west London was said to be the extension of James' contract. Since returning from a loan spell at Wigan Athletic in 2019, the Englishman has been an ever-present in the Blues' starting XI.

With his new deal, the England international has become one of the highest-paid players at Stamford Bridge, and one of the best-earning defenders in world football, with the right-back now set to take home £250 000 (R4.9 million) on a weekly basis.

Reports suggested that Real Madrid were on the lookout for a collapse in negotiations between James and the Blues in order to pounce for the 22-year-old, but he has now committed his long-term future to his boyhood club.

Another young defender who has committed to the two-time European champions for the long term is new signing Wesley Fofana. The French centre-back commanded a massive transfer fee when he joined from Leicester City late last month, and now commands massive wages too.

The 21-year-old has been handed weekly earnings of £200 000 (R3.9 million) before deductions by new co-owner Todd Boehly and the Chelsea hierarchy.

Raheem Sterling, meanwhile, was prised away from Manchester City in the latest transfer window after he became disgruntled at the Etihad Stadium.

It seems Thomas Tuchel has made the forward his star attacker on the pitch since, and the money he is receiving from the club reflects that, with the Jamaica-born winger making £325 000 (R3.9 million) a week having just signed a five-year deal with the Blues.
