Sunday's League Cup triumph takes Guardiola's trophy haul to 22 – 14 with FC Barcelona, seven with Bayern Munich and now one with City.
However, he remains three titles short of Mourinho, his biggest rival in the dugout, with the pair having often clashed during their time with FC Barcelona and Real Madrid.
The Portuguese manager, with 25 trophies, is sixth among the most successful coaches in Europe, while Guardiola climbed to seventh place with his latest triumph.
Both, though, remain far off the most successful coach in European football history.
