Manager Antonio Conte has not been happy with the business his club has done up until now, and is looking at adding a few more reinforcements before 31 August.
According to English publication the Daily Express, the Blues are looking at bringing in five players to help them retain the Premier League title they won last season.
Conte is looking to shore up his defence over the next few days and has been linked with the Southampton trio of Virgil van Dijk, Cedric Soares and Ryan Bertrand.
The Blues are set to face stiff competition for the three players signatures as Liverpool are also monitoring Van Dijk and Bertrand's availability, while Tottenham Hotspur are said to be keeping a close eye on Soares.
The Italian is also reportedly keen on adding a few fresh faces in midfield, with Leicester City's Danny Drinkwater and Arsenal's Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain currently being the two players most linked with a move to Stamford Bridge.
