Manchester United got back to winning ways in the Premier League after overcoming Fulham 1-0 on Sunday evening.

Venue: Craven Cottage

Andre Onana, Rasmus Hojlund, Manuel Ugarte and Harry Maguire were recalled to the United line-up following the win over Rangers in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday.

The game's first chance fell to the home side after 14 minutes when Harry Wilson did well to play in Emile-Smith Rowe, who took one touch but volley over with Andre Onana advancing.

United, meanwhile, enjoyed more of the possession in the first period but they found it tough to carve out chances as the likes of Amad Diallo and Alejandro Garnacho were kept quiet in the final third.

That proved to be the trend for the remainder of the first half as Ruben Amorim's charges failed to register a single effort on target throughout the opening 45 minutes.

Unfortunately, it was more of the same in the second period as United could only carve out an opening from a dead-ball situation as Bruno Fernandes' free-kick sailed into the side-netting.

Amorim responded with a double change for the visiting side just before the hour mark as Joshua Zirkzee and Lenny Yoro replaced Hojlund and Matthijs de Ligt.

The visitors eventually got the breakthrough in the 77th minute as Lisandro Martinez picked up a loose ball in the box and unleashed a strike that took a deflection and sailed over Bernd Leno for his second goal of the season.

Fulham went agonisingly close to pulling themselves level in the final two minutes but Toby Collyer popped up with a vital block on the line to keep out Joachim Andersen's goal-bound header.

United had the ball in the back in the fourth minute of time added on as Diallo fired home from close range, but VAR ruled the goal out for an offside on the Ivorian in the build as the one goal was enough to seal three points.
