Reds manager Jurgen Klopp made five changes from the draw with Arsenal, as Jarell Quansah, Joe Gomez Harvey Elliott, Ryan Gravenberch and Cody Gakpo returned, while Lyle Foster continued to lead the line for Burnley.
The visitors got off to the perfect start when Gakpo surged towards the box before teeing up Darwin Nunez, who sent a first-time finish into the back of the net from the edge of the box.
While Burnley struggled to carve out any openings in the final third, Liverpool were in complete control and were able to pick their passes although goalkeeper James Trafford pulled off a couple saves to keep the score down.
The Reds did go agonisingly close to pulling ahead by two goals when Gakpo turned provider once again, this time picking out Salah with a neat pass over the top but the Egyptian sent his volley against the crossbar.
It was more of the same in the second half and the Reds had the ball in the back of the net for a second time ten minutes in when Gravenberch picked out Elliot to steer home, however the goal was ruled out by Video Assisant Referee (VAR) for on offside on Salah.
The hosts grew stronger as the first half went on and they could have equalised on 68 minute when Wilson Odobert beat his marker before picking out Jóhann Berg Gudmundsson, who headed over at the far post.
However, Liverpool ended any hopes of a Burnley comeback in the 90th minute when Diogo Jota found the back of the net shortly after his introduction with a neat finish from a tight angle.
