Arsenal got back to winning ways in the Premier League after defeating Brighton and Hove Albion 2-0 on Sunday afternoon.

Result: Arsenal 2-0 Brighton and Hove Albion
Date: 17 December 2023
Venue: Emirates Stadium
Mikel Arteta named an unchanged starting line-up from last week's defeat to Aston Villa, while the visitors recalled Kaoru Mitoma, Joel Veltman and Billy Gilmour
The Gunners dominated proceedings in the early stages but had to wait until the 15th minute for an opening, as Martin Odegaard sent a curling strike just wide of the mark.
The Seagulls, meanwhile, were forced to re-shuffle the pack in the 27th minute when Veltman was forced off with an injury and replaced by 18-year-old Jack Hinshelwood.
While the visitors failed to offer anything going forward, the Gunners' frustration began to grow as their final ball into the box was not up to par as the Brighton defenders were able to clear with ease.
However, the Gunners needed just eight minutes to find the breakthrough in the second half when Gabriel Jesus nodded home after Bright failed to clear their lines from a corner.
The Gunners should have doubled their lead in the 74th minute when Martinelli got to the byline and lifted a cross to the far post, where Kai Havertz rose above his marker and headed over the crossbar.
Arsenal ended any hope of a Brighton comeback in the 87th minute when substitute Eddie Nketiah did well play in Havertz, who took one touch before slotting home his fourth league goal of the season.
