Arsenal Silence Man Utd At Old Trafford

Manchester United 0-1 Arsenal

Arsenal started their Premier League campaign with a 1-0 win over Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday evening.

Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha made their official debuts for the Red Devils while Benjamin Sesko started on the bench. The Gunners, meanwhile, gave debuts to Viktor Gyökeres and Martin Zubimendi.

The Gunners got the opening goal on 14 minutes when Riccardo Calafiori nodded into an empty net after United goalkeeper Altay Bayındır struggled to deal with a corner.

United did have a couple chances of their own as the half went on, with Patrick Dorgu hitting the upright while Cunha also went close after being denied by a fine save by goalkeeper David Raya.

The second half proved to be a bit more tighter than the first, as both sides struggled to carve out some big chances.

The Gunners, however, were able to see out the closing stages to secure their first three-point haul of the season.

Chelsea 0-0 Crystal Palace

Chelsea started their Premier League campaign with a goalless draw against Crystal Palace at Stamford Bride.

Off-season signings Joao Pedro and Gittens were given their league debuts for the Blues, while Eberechi Eze and Marc Guehi started for Palace despite heavily being linked with departures.

The Eagles got thought they had got the opening goal in the 13th minute when Eberechi Eze rifled home a free-kick, but the goal was chalked off after the Video Assistant Referee spotted a foul before the ball went in.

That was as good as it got in the first half, as the Blues struggled to carve out any serious openings at goal.

It was more of the same in the second half, with the likes of Liam Delap and Andrey Santos squandering late chances.

Nottingham Forest 3-1 Bentford

Nottingham Forest registered a 3-1 win over Brentford in the league opener at the City Ground.

The hosts got off to the perfect start when last season's top scorer Chris Wood pounced on a loose ball in the box and volleyed into the back of the net.

New signing Dan Ndoye marked his Forest with a goal after nodding home a cross from Morgan Gibbs-White in the 42nd minute.

There was enough time for a third goal before the interval as Wood latched onto a through-ball by Elliot Anderson before calmly slotting home to complete his brace.

Brentford did pull one goal back in the 78th minute, with Igor Thiago converting a penalty.
