Atletico Madrid's Joao Felix, who had been linked with Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea, has officially joined a Premier League club on loan until the end of the season.

The Portugal international has committed to a six-month loan deal with the Blues following a difficult first half of the season in LaLiga.

Felix's salary will reportedly be covered fully by Chelsea, who were quick to move for the 23-year-old after it became clear he was open to offers from the Gunners and the Red Devils.

Speaking after his temporary switch to the English side, Felix said: "Chelsea is one of the great teams in the world and I hope to help the team reach their objectives - I'm very, very happy to be here and very excited to play at Stamford Bridge."

The midfielder signed for Los Rojiblancos for a club-record fee from Benfica in 2019, and has since contributed to 52 goals in 131 appearances.

In recent months, a spotlight has been shone on Felix's stylistic clash with Diego Simeone's footballing philosophy, particularly following the player's exploits for Portugal at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Earlier in this January transfer window, Brazil striker Matheus Cunha joined Wolverhampton Wanderers on loan after his agent criticised Simeone's idea of how the sport should be played.

Felix has now become the fourth new face at Stamford Bridge this month, with the Blues having already welcomed David Datro Fofana, Andrey Santos and Benoit Badiashile to London.
