The Citizens are "close to agreeing" a deal worth £35 million (R733 million) for AFC Bournemouth defender Nathan Ake, according to The Guardian.
Guardiola is keen to strengthen his defence, and has identified the Netherlands international as an ideal acquisition, it is claimed.
Manchester United and Chelsea are also believed to be interested in the 25-year-old, who left the Blues to join the Cherries for a fee of £20 million (R419 million) in 2017, but City seem to be closing in on his signature.
Ake is still under contract at Bournemouth until 2022, but is expected to leave in the coming window, irrespective of whether or not his team secures Premier League survival.

Guardiola is likely to invest even more once the transfer window opens, and Ake might not be the last defensive arrival at the Etihad, with players such as Kalidou Koulibaly and David Alaba also being linked with the Manchester club.
