Last season's treble champions Manchester City have reportedly "sealed" their first signing of 2024.

According to Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the Citizens are close to announcing the arrival of 18-year-old attacking midfielder Claudio Echeverri from River Plate.

The talented teenager produced impressive performances for Argentina at the recent U17 FIFA World Cup, during which he scored five goals in seven matches, including a stunning hat-trick against Brazil at the quarter-final stage.
Romano claims City will pay around €25 million (R511 million) for his signature in total, with the starlet set to remain in Argentina on loan for the time being.

Echeverri has only made six senior appearances in his career to date.
