Liverpool Star's Parents Kidnapped, Club Respond!

The parents of a Liverpool star have reportedly been kidnapped, with the Premier League club now releasing a statement on the matter.

Luis Daiz's mother and father were kidnapped in Colombia after reportedly being stopped by gunmen on motorbikes.

Various reports claim that the player's mother Cilenis Marulanda was rescued by police in the City of Barrancas but the father remains missing.

According to Sky News, Diaz's parents were taken as they entered their home.

Liverpool have since released a statement confirming they are aware of the situation.

"Liverpool Football Club can confirm it is aware of an ongoing situation involving the family of Luis Diaz in Colombia," the statement read.

"It is our fervent hope that the matter is resolved safely and at the earliest possible opportunity. In the meantime, the player's welfare will continue to be our immediate priority."
