Jurgen Klopp Hits Out At Manchester United Tactics

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp was seemingly left unimpressed with Manchester United's approach to their 0-0 draw in the Premier League on Sunday evening.

As many perhaps expected, the Reds enjoyed most of the possession during their clash with the Red Devils at Anfield, who appeared happy to defend deep and try to catch the champions with fast counter-attacks.

The match ended with Liverpool completing 576 passes compared to United's 252, although it was the away side that arguably had the best goalscoring chances.

Klopp seemed to aim a sly dig Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's way after the game, saying it is difficult to play against a team with good players who "defend with all they have".

"We played football, tried to do it, force them back into their own box," he told BBC Sport.

"The worst thing you can face in the world, in football, is you play against a side with world-class players and they all defend with all they have, deep in the box and only counter-attack.

"It's really difficult – that's the biggest challenge."

The German tactician also praised his side's overall performance, suggesting it was a good showing for a team many felt went into the match on poor form.

"The performance was good, especially the first half was exceptionally good," he continued.

"I think, with all the things that were said before the game – 'United is flying and we are struggling' – and then playing this kind of game, I was really happy with that.

"We tried it in the second half again, but you cannot deny United for 95 minutes, especially with the counter-attacking threat they have.

"They had two really good chances, I have to say, but we had our chances in the second half too."

While United still occupy first place on the table, Manchester City are just two points behind their rivals with a game in hand. Leicester City are in third spot, while Liverpool are now fourth.
