The retired England and Liverpool defender insists that the winger needs to change his agent, and is angered that a young player like Sterling is taking on a huge club like Liverpool.
"Raheem Sterling is a great kid," Carragher told Sky Sports.
"He's not some flash young kid. He's not loud, he's not in people's faces. He loves his football.
"He needs to change his agent. That's the one thing he needs to change.
"For a 20-year-old kid to be taking on Liverpool football club, it angers me to the pit of my stomach."
Carragher says that it's probably inevitable that the player will leave the club at some point in the future, but mainly because he is forcing the move, not because Liverpool want to sell him.
"Raheem Sterling will obviously move on at some stage," he added.
"Brendan Rodgers has said he won't be leaving this summer but it looks like me that he's trying to force the club's hand.
"Keep your mouth shut and get on with playing football. He'll move on in years to come. Just keep your mouth shut."
Sterling reportedly told the club that he is keen to leave in the summer, though Rodgers wants him to stay.
