Frontrunners For The 22/23 Premier League Golden Boot

Mohamed Salah and Son Heung-min shared the Golden Boot last season, with the duo finding the back of the net 23 times in the 2021/22 campaign.

It was also the second time Salah had shared the accolade, having also done so in the 2018/19 season when he was the joint-winner with former Reds teammate Sadio Mane and ex-Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Now that Mane has left for the Bundesliga, the Egyptian will have a new teammate in Liverpool's attacking trident to contend with in Darwin Nunez.

The 23-year-old was one of the most prolific strikers in European football last season, scoring 34 goals in 41 appearances for Benfica, with two of those strikes coming against his new employers in the UEFA Champions League.

The Uruguayan already seems to be adjusting well to life in England, having scored in his first competitive match for Jurgen Klopp's men when he netted the third in Liverpool's 3-1 victory over Manchester City in the FA Community Shield on the weekend.

For all the fanfare surrounding the league's newcomers such as Nunez, it could be the tried and tested attackers who take the illustrious award this season.

Jamie Vardy is one such talent. The 2019/20 Golden Boot winner will be looking to win the prize again, having been plagued by injuries most of last season.

Of the eight seasons the 35-year-old has played in England's top division to date, he has failed to score more than 15 league goals in only two of them.
