FA Launches Investigation After Player Gets 'Bitten'

The English FA has reportedly launched an investigation after a player appeared to be bitten on the back of his neck during a game.

According to the Mirror, the FA has opened an investigation into claims that Liverpool loanee Owen Beck, who is playing for Blackburn Rovers this season, was bitten by an opponent.

The incident occurred during Blackburn's goalless draw with Preston North End in the EFL Championship on Sunday.

Beck, a left-back, was sent off for a rash challenge on Preston's Duane Holmes a minute before stoppage time at the end of the game.

However, in the moments that followed his tackle, footage appeared to show Preston forward Milutin Osmajic biting Beck on the back of his neck.

The defender then looked to tell match official Matthew Donohue about what he claims to have occurred, with Blackburn manager John Eustace supporting his player's allegation.

"I haven't really seen it, he [Beck] went to clear the ball and possibly caught the lad. He's got a big bite mark on the back of his neck. It's a shame the referee didn't see that as well," Eustace said, according to the Lancashire Telegraph.

"He's got a big bite mark. He has been in and shown the lads. He's very disappointed to be sent off and you don't expect him to have that either.

"He's a bit quiet in there and a bit shaken up. I don't know if he spoke to the referee, I'm not sure if it was before or after the red. He might want to speak to the officials about it.

"It's a very serious incident, nobody likes to be bitten. Everyone is angry about it, it's not a nice situation to be in. I'm sure the right people will see it and deal with it."
