Result: Stoke City 0-2 Manchester City
Date: 12 March 2018
Venue: Bet365 Stadium
David Silva netted a brace to inspire Premier League leaders Manchester City to a 2-0 win over Stoke City at the Bet365 Stadium on Monday night.
It took the visitors nine minutes to break Stoke's resistance as a good passing move ended with Raheem Sterling picking out Silva, who side-footed the ball into the far corner, 0-1.
The Potters eventually got out of their own half and nearly restored parity in the 21st minute when Badou N'Diaye's low strike deflected inches wide of the upright.
Ederson came to the visitors' rescue on 36 minutes when Kyle Walker's effort look destined for the back of the net, only for the City goalkeeper to tip the ball onto the crossbar.
Four minutes later, Jack Butland was called into action at the other end with a fine low save to deny Kevin de Bruyne, which proved to be the final attempt of the half.
City doubled their lead five minutes into the second half as Silva combined with Gabriel Jesus before lobbing the on-rushing Butland.
In the 63rd minute, Stoke could have reduced the deficit through Bruno Martins-Indi, who volleyed over the crossbar from six yards out.
The Citizens managed to see out the closing stages with relative ease they edge closer to clinching the league title.
