Result: Manchester City 0-0 Huddersfield Town
Date: 06 May 2018
Venue: Etihad
Premier League champions Manchester City had to settle for a point as they drew 0-0 with Huddersfield Town on Sunday afternoon.
The Citizens were bursting forward with pace in the early exchanges but could not carve out any clear goal-scoring opportunities inside the first 10 minutes.
Florent Hadergjonaj should have opened the scoring for the Terriers in the 13th minute after receiving a through ball from a clever free-kick by Alex Pritchard but he scuffed his effort wide from close range.
The visitors were gaining confidence and momentum after 20 minutes, putting Pep Guardiola's charges under pressure and limiting their chances up front.
In the 36th minute, Kevin De Bruyne almost broke the deadlock for the Citizens with a fierce strike from 10-yards but goalkeeper Jonas Lossl produced a good save to deny the Belgian as the sides went into the break still goalless.
After a quiet start to the second half, Guardiola decided to tweak his side in search of the breakthrough on the hour-mark by bringing on Benjamin Mendy in place of Fabian Delph.
However, the tempo of the match slowed down with 20 minutes to play as both sides were ringing the changes.
Bernardo Silva nearly snatched the winner five minutes from time for the Citizens with a half-volley from a corner-kick but his effort went agonisingly wide.
In the end, neither side could find a wining goal and they were forced to settle for a share of the spoils.
