Result: Liverpool 0-0 West Bromwich Albion

Date: 13 December 2017

Venue: Anfield

Liverpool dropped points for the second straight Premier League game after they drew 0-0 with West Bromwich Albion at Anfield.

The home side were looking to put the struggling West Brom to the sword after Sunday's disappointing 1-1 draw at home with local rivals Everton in the Merseyside derby.

The Reds came up against a very well drilled and resilient Baggies outfit who not only kept the home side at bay but produced the best moments either side of the half time interval with the Reds looking short of their usual free flowing best.

The visiting side have proved to be stern opposition throughout the first half as they frustrated the Merseysiders to very little clear cut goal-scoring opportunities with Roberto Firmino coming closest from an acute angle having beaten the onrushing Ben Foster.

Midway through the first half, Hal Robson Kanu nearly found the back of the net with a side footed finish which hit the frame of the upright with Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius beaten.

With the likes of Sadio Mane, Firmino and Phillipe Coutinho back in attack, Liverpool still lacked the cutting edge in the attacking third to cause the visitors problems.

Main of the moment for Liverpool, Mohammed Salah missed a great chance in the second half to head a well delivered cross from Trent Alexander-Arnold but misplaced his header and the chance went abegging.

The Reds piled the pressure thereafter and camped in the West Brom half for most the second half with visitors offering little in offence.

Jay Rodriguez replaced Robson Kanu as Pardew looked to add fresh legs with Liverpool in the ascendancy.

However, the Reds thought they had won the game in the final stages but Dominic Solanke's strike was flagged offside as the sides settled for a share of the spoils.
