Result: Liverpool 3-1 Bournemouth
Date: 09 February 2019
Venue: Anfield
Liverpool reclaimed top spot in the English Premier League with a 3-0 victory over Bournemouth at Anfield on Saturday evening.
The Reds dominated the opening exchanges of the first half, but they had to wait until the 24th minute for the opening goal, with Sadio Mane nodding home James Milner's cross.
Bournemouth, meanwhile, struggled to mount any serious attempts at goal as Reds shot-stopper Alisson Becker was largely untested.
The lead was doubled in the 34th minute as Andrew Robertson did well to pick out Georginio Wijnaldum, who controlled well before firing past Artur Boruc from close range.
Sala had the chance to extend Liverpool's advantage on the stroke of half time, but the Egyptian forward was unable to fire his volley past Boruc from close range.
The Egyptian was not to be denied shortly after the break with a close-range finish after getting on the end of Roberto Firmino's flick-on, 3-0.
It was one-way traffic in the second stanza, as Bournemouth struggled to get the ball off the Reds which led to a lack of chances of their end.
The Reds nearly bagged a fourth goal with 14 minutes remaining as Salah combined with Firmino before rattling the crossbar from close range.
Jurgen Kloop's managed to see out the closing stages with relative ease to claim three points and return to the top of the table.
