Philippe Coutinho netted a brace for Liverpool, as the Reds defeated Arsenal 4-3 in a thrilling encounter at the Emirates Stadium.
Arsene Wenger's charges dominated most of the possession statistics in the opening exchanges but struggled create clear-cut chances.
Arsenal were awarded a penalty in the 25th minute when Theo Walcott was brought down by Alberto Moreno. Walcott stepped up but had his spot-kick saved by Simon Mignolet.
However, Walcott made up for his miss seconds later as the England forward drilled a low effort past Mignolet from a tight angle, 1-0.
Liverpool struggled for most of the first half, but managed to level matters on the stroke of halftime courtesy of a sublime free-kick from Coutinho that sailed into the top corner.
Jurgen Klopp's charges went ahead just a few minutes after the restart, as Adam Lallana controlled Georginio Wijnaldum's cross on his chest, before firing a low effort past Petr Cech from close range.
The Reds managed to add a third goal in the 55th minute as Nathaniel Clyne raced to the byline before picking out Coutinho, who slotted home from six-yards out for his second goal of the game.
Liverpool bagged their fourth goal in the 63rd minute courtesy of a fine individual effort from new signing Sadio Mane.
Substitute Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain reduced the deficit a minute later, as the winger skipped past three players, before firing a deflected effort past Mignolet.
Arsenal fought back and netted a third goal in the 75th minute through Callum Chambers, who headed home into the bottom corner.
Wenger's charges pushed for an equaliser in the closing stages, but were unable to create any clear-cut chance in the final stages, as Liverpool held on for the win.
