Arsenal

English Premier League

Result: Arsenal 2-0 Brighton Hove Albion

Date: 01 October 2017

Venue: Emirates Stadium

Goals from Nacho Monreal and Alex Iwobi were enough to hand Arsenal a 2-0 win over Brighton Hove Albion at the Emirates Stadium.

It was The Gunners who got away the first real shot in anger when Alexander Lacazette hit a powerful volley which clattered against the bar to send alarm bells to the Brighton defense.

Arsenal were in control of the game and a neat one – two between Alexis Sanchez and Alex Iwobi saw Iwobi's low effort saved by Matthew Ryan in the Brighton goal.

There was not much the keeper could do when Brighton failed to clear their lines and a lose ball in the box was put away by Nacho Monreal to give Arsenal a 1-0 lead.

Arsenal had a chance to double their lead on a counter from a Brighton corner saw the Gunners flooding the Brighton box with Aaron Ramsey eventually getting his shot away only to be saved by the foot of Ryan to keep the scores 1-0 at halftime.

The second half started much like the first ended and were on the ascendency. A great team move led to a brilliant back heel set up by Sanchez which was clinically converted by Iwobi to double Arsenal's lead.

Sanchez was in the mood and was causing havoc for the Brighton defense. The winger twisted his way into the box before his curling effort was desperately cleared off the line by the fingertips of Ryan.

The Gunners managed to comfortably hold on to their 2-0 lead and secured all three points at home.
