Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has revealed why he allows Diego Costa and company to have a beer after every game.
Mourinho Open To Letting Two Stars Leave
The drinking culture in England has been frowned upon by many in and out the country, but the Blues boss has an important reason as to why he allows his players to have half a pint after a fixture.
Pictures doing the rounds on social media recently show Costa and teammate David Luiz drinking a beer in the change room after Chelsea's 1-0 victory over West Brom on Sunday, and Conte has explained why he endorses the practice.
"After the game, for rehydration, you can drink Coca-Cola, one beer." Conte said, as quoted by The Sun.
"It's good for recovery. But one. Not a lot. It's good after you finish the game, quickly, not an hour after the end.
"Diego is playing a season in a fantastic way, because he's showing great passion in the right way. That's very important. I'm pleased for him, for Chelsea, for the fans.
"He's very focused on the game, to play football and make all the right movements, attack the space – and that's fantastic for him. I think also that he can improve."
The former Juventus boss also revealed what the club has organised for Christmas this year.
"I'd prefer they stayed at home and celebrated with the family. Not a great party. On the 26th we play," Conte added.
"We're preparing to celebrate with our families during the week before Christmas, to stay together with our children.
"In this period in Italy, there is a holiday. Usually the club organised a party around 10 days before Christmas, with the families, to stay together and have a dinner.
"I think a glass of red wine, one, is good. In this case, I don't think a coach or a manager can say, 'Do this' or 'Don't do this'.
"I have great professionals and I know they will have the better attitude and behaviours in this situation."
