United set several milestones under legendary boss Sir Alex Ferguson, but it seems most of them have been destroyed by David Moyes and Van Gaal.
Here are eight unwanted records Van Gaal's side have set, according to Squawka:
1) On Saturday, the Dutchman's side lost at Sunderland's Stadium of Light for the first time ever. The Black Cats moved into the stadium in 1997, and United had never tasted defeat there – until last weekend.
2) The Red Devils have only collected 12 points from their past 12 Premier League games, a run that is only two points better than the return of bottom-placed Aston Villa.
3) United were unbeaten in 27 years at home against Southampton, but Van Gaal's side has now lost back-to-back league matches at Old Trafford against the Saints.
4) After the defeat to Southampton on 23 January, United had only 37 points from 23 league games – their worst tally ever at that stage of the season.
5) Boxing Day was usually a day to celebrate for the Red Devils faithful as they hadn't lost a game on 26 December in 13 years. However, that changed in this campaign when they lost to Stoke on this day.
6) Last season, United lost both league fixtures against Swansea, the first time this happened in their history, and, to make it worse, they also lost the first game of this campaign against the same opponent, collecting three straight defeats against the Swans for the first time ever.
7) When Van Gaal's side lost at home to promoted side Norwich on 19 December, it was the first time in 26 years they had been defeated by the Canaries – who had only won five games all season by that point – at Old Trafford.

8) Between 25 November and 28 December, United went eight consecutive games without a win – another negative record, which hadn't been achieved since 1989. Four consecutive defeats (against Wolfsburg, Bournemouth, Norwich and Stoke) had not happened in 55 years too.
