It was recently claimed the Borussia Dortmund striker is close to completing a switch to the Premier League champions, with the Daily Mail reporting he will earn in excess of £500 000 (R9.5 million) a week in England.
This salary would make the 21-year-old, who seems set to follow in his father's footsteps at the Citizens, the club's highest-paid player, with the team's current best earner said to be on a weekly wage of £400 000 (R7.8 million).
Interestingly, the Norwegian was born in England in 2000, the year his dad Alf-Inge left Leeds United to join City, where he spent the next three years of his playing career.
England internationals Jack Grealish, Raheem Sterling and John Stones are among the five highest-paid players at the Etihad, while the likes of Fernandinho, Bernardo Silva and Ilkay Gundogan feature further down the list.
Haaland is expected to earn more than all of the aforementioned names, although his arrival is still yet to be confirmed by manager Pep Guardiola, who has refused to comment on the rumour that an agreement between the player and club has been reached.
Although the ex-Red Bull Salzburg forward has suffered an injury-hit campaign in the Bundesliga this term, the rising star is widely considered to be one of the best young goalscorers in world football, having scored 82 times in 85 matches since joining BVB in January 2020.
Clubs such as Manchester United, Real Madrid and Barcelona have previously been deemed as potential suitors for Haaland, whose release clause of €75 million (R1.2 billion) will reportedly become active at the end of the season.
