The Argentine scored a brace, including a dramatic last-minute winner, to help his side steal all three points at the Santiago Bernabeu and climb above their rivals in La Liga.
Messi netted his 500th Barcelona goal in the process, just days after Ronaldo wrote the headlines for scoring his 100th goal in the UEFA Champions League.
Henry has now stated that Messi responded to his rival's strong performance in midweek, and that the two superstars are making each other better.

"He saw Ronaldo scoring his 100th goal in the Champions League before him. He saw that and he had to respond.
"I've said it so many times – Ronaldo helped Messi to be better, and Messi helps Ronaldo to be better.
"We saw that again – he had to respond to what Ronaldo did in midweek."
