The Argentine's last-minute winner decided a brilliant game in his side's favour, with Barca upsetting Real 3-2 at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Messi, who found himself with a bleeding mouth after being hit by Marcelo's elbow early on in the game, netted the equaliser after Real had opened the scoring through Casemiro in the first half, before a Ivan Rakitic screamer put Barca in the front seat.
After Sergio Ramos was sent off following a two-footed tackle on Messi, it looked like Barca would comfortably see out the game in the second half. However, Real had one more response up their sleeves, with James Rodriguez netting an equaliser in the 85th minute.

Many expected the game to finish 2-2, but Messi once again stepped up to score his 500th Barca goal and help the Blaugrana take all three points home.
