How Brazil Could Line Up At 2019 Copa America Without Neymar

Copa America hosts Brazil will play the tournament without their injured superstar Neymar. Here is how the Selecao could line up at the upcoming Copa America in his absence.

The favourites suffered a massive blow when Neymar left the field in tears during their 2-0 victory over Qatar in a friendly this week. The 27-year-old has since been ruled out of the tournament, with coach Tite callin gup Willian as replacement.

Brazil last won the competition in 2007, and have lifted the trophy eight times overall. However, in their last appearance two years ago, their tournament ended in disaster with an exit at the group stage.

Tite was appointed after the 2016 Copa America, and has lost only two of his 35 games in charge since. He will be keen to lift his first trophy as Selecao boss, or his days in the position could be numbered.

So which starting line-up will he pick for the tournament? Let us have a look.

In goal, Brazil have arguably the two strongest players to choose from, with Liverpool's Alisson rivaling Manchester City's Ederson for the spot between the posts. However, Tite has so far preferred Ederson over Alisson, and it seems safe to say he will be Brazil's No.1.

At the back, many were surprised 36-year-old Dani Alves made the Copa squad, but it seems Tite wants his experience at right-back. The centre-back duo could be Marquinhos and Miranda, while Thiago Silva is also in the mix. At left-back, Tite can choose between Filipe Luis or Alex Sandro, with the latter expected to start.

In midfield, Real Madrid's Casemiro will likely link up with FC Barcelona duo Arthur and Philippe Coutinho, while up front, Richarlison and Gabriel Jesus seem nailed on.

The only uncertain position in Brazil's attacking line is the left wing, with Richarlison potentially shifting from the right to replace Neymar, while David Neres, who starred for Ajax Amsterdam this season, could start on the right.

Brazil kick off this year's Copa America against Bolivia on 15 June before facing Venezuela and Peru in Group A.
