A Spain international has revealed that leaving FC Barcelona was vital if he wanted to return to the national set up.

Paco Alcacer joined Barcelona from Valencia in 2016 but his game-time dropped significantly with the likes of Lionel Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez in the side.
Due to the lack of game-time, Alcacer then decided to join Borussia Dortmund on a season-long loan and netted 19 goals in his first full season with the club.
The 26-year-old found the back of the net in Spain's win over and revealed it was vital to leave the Catalan giants to get back to the national side.
"I had been lacking continuity and minutes," Alcacer said, according to Marca. "Leaving Barcelona in order to get more minutes was very important.
