On Thursday, it was announced by the Bavarian giants that the former Liverpool star will be suspended for their Bundesliga fixture against Hoffenheim this coming weekend following his actions in mid-week, and also fined.
The 31-year-old is believed to have left his colleague Sane with a bloodied lip after lashing out at him in a behind-the-scenes row following Bayern's 3-0 loss to Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday.
Reports suggested Mane was furious with the way his teammate spoke to him on the field during a disagreement before their feud was reignited in the dressing room.
According to BILD, as part of the Senegal international's punishment, he has been fined about €500 000 (R9.9 million) by the club, but matters reportedly might have been worse if not for Sane.
The German outlet claims the ex-City winger pleaded with the board's bosses not to "sack" Mane as he wants the situation and the drama that surrounds it to be over.
It is also claimed that Mane has been dealing with the loss of a family member in recent days, with Sane insisting the club not take stricter punishment.
Mane's debut campaign in Germany has been far from smooth sailing, and there have been reports the Bundesliga champions would consider selling him if offers arrived at the end of the campaign.
