Former Liverpool superstar Sadio Mane has reportedly helped a childhood friend of his get a professional contract at Bayern Munich.
Mane Breaks Silence After First Bayern Title
According to several reports across Africa and Europe, the 30-year-old Senegal star spent the majority of his climb to the top of the game alongside his good friend Desire Segbe Azankpo.
It is claimed that both players began their amateur careers at Generation Foot Academy in Senegal, but experienced very different trajectories after Mane left his native country for France as a teenager.
Azankpo, a Benin striker, has spent most of his career in the lower leagues of professional football in France and England, with his last club being Championnat National side USL Dunkerque.
Mane, meanwhile, has become recognised as one of the greatest African footballers of all time following his incredible six-year spell at Liverpool and his exploits for Senegal at the recent Africa Cup of Nations.
Ghanaian journalist Saddick Adams has now suggested that 29-year-old Azankpo has penned a two-year deal with Bayern's second team following a trial facilitated by Mane.
Azankpo’s deal with Dunkerque had ended and without a club and now moving with Mane.
