The Bavarians got back to winning ways in the German top flight after defeating Union Berlin at the Allianz Arena on Saturday afternoon.
Lewandowski netted what proved to be the winning goal to take his tally to 13 Bundesliga this campaign, but he also became the first player in league history to score in the opening nine games of the season.
Aubameyang, a former teammate of Lewandowski, previously held record with eight games during the 2015-2016 with Borussia Dortmund.

"I wasn't sure if it was already a record because I didn't want to think too much about it," Lewandowski told bundesliga.com.
"I didn't want my thoughts during the game to be about a record. So I just forgot about it and then waited to see what happened after the game. I'm just focused on the match and on the football. It's special to do something like this, of course, but the most important thing is that we got the three points."
