On Tuesday, reports emerged from Germany that Bayer Leverkusen starlet Kai Havertz was being by courted by no fewer than eight clubs who were "queuing up" to sign him.

According to Sport1, Havertz is attracting the attention of some of Europe's top clubs, including Spanish giants Barca and Real, and England's Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United.

The 20-year-old has been strongly linked with a move away from Leverkusen after enjoying a stellar 2018/19 campaign. Already a full Germany international, he scored 17 goals from midfield last season and was runner-up to Marco Reus for the German Footballer of the Year award.

Leverkusen reportedly expect the 2019 Golden Boy nominee to stay with the club, and would only be willing to entertain offers around the €100 million (R1.6 billion) mark at the end of the current season.

It has also been claimed that Havertz would not entertain a move to France or Italy, which eliminates the possibility that he might join Paris Saint-Germain or Juventus in the immediate future.

Reigning Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich are also said to be keen on Havertz, but are reportedly not in a position to invest such a substantial financial outlay on the prodigious talent.

Havertz opened his 2019/20 account with a goal in Leverkusen's 3-2 Bundesliga win over Paderborn on Saturday.
