With Robert Lewandowski pushing for a Bayern Munich exit, the Bavarian giants are believed to have lined up a replacement for their star man.
The Poland hitman has made it known that he thinks his time at the Allianz Arena has come to an end and would like to leave Die Roten, with Barcelona tipped as his most likely destination for the 2022/23 campaign.
Having just added Sadio Mane to their attack, Bayern will be keen to add another attacking talent should Lewandowski's exit become official, and according to Sport Bild, the striker the German side has in mind is Jonathan David.
The Canadian forward is coming off his most prolific season with Ligue 1 side Lille, and the reigning Bundesliga champions are reportedly interested in adding him to their armoury.
The same report claims the move would likely cost Bayern £50 million (R983 million), but the two-time treble winners will be facing stiff competition from Premier League sides for the forward's signature, with the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool having also been linked with the Canada international.
Either way, should Lille's valuation of the striker be met, David will become the most expensive Canadian in football history.
At the end of the year, his country will be competing in their first-ever FIFA World Cup, and David will be hoping to be in the form of his life when the global showpiece comes around, so it will perhaps be imperative that he is playing every week in the build-up to the tournament, something that is not a guarantee at Bayern given the quality of the likes of Mane, Kingsley Coman, Serge Gnabry, Leroy Sane and Thomas Muller.
