Brazilian superstar Philippe Coutinho has been at Bayern Munich for less than two weeks, but one of the club's stars already believes he could be the key to their Uefa Champions League hopes.

Coutinho joined the Bavarians on a season-long loan from FC Barcelona earlier in the month and made his debut for the club last weekend, during a 3-0 win over Bundesliga rivals Schalke 04, coming on as a second-half substitute for Thomas Muller.

Robert Lewandowski, who scored all three of Bayern's goals on the day, has since shared his thoughts on his side's newest recruit, whom he believes could be key to the club claiming a sixth Champions League title this season.

"His final pass is insane," Lewandowski told Bild.

"He can be the key in important games, especially in the Champions League, that special something. We become more unpredictable through him and that makes us more dangerous.

"He can play as a 10, outside on the left, if necessary also on the right. We can play with one or two sixes, with tens or two eights. We have more options now."

Lewandowski also reserved praise for fellow new signing Ivan Perisic, who similarly made his debut against the Royal Blues last weekend.

"Ivan can be a big surprise with us, I'm sure. He is good with left, right, a good header, robust, can dribble well. Ivan can help immediately," the Polish strike added.

Bayern reportedly have the option to sign the former Liverpool star for a fee of €120 million (R2 billion) at the end of the season.
