Official: Borussia Dortmund sack Lucien Favre After 5-1 loss

Borussia Dortmund have sacked manager Lucien Favre after the side's humiliating 5-1 loss to Stuttgart on Saturday.

Dortmund extended their winless run in the German topflight to three games with the heavy defeat on home soil.

The defeat left Dortmund five points behind league leaders Bayern Munich after 11 games played.

"We are all grateful for Lucien Favre and his excellent work over the past two and a half years, where he and his team finished as runner-up twice," Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke said on the club's twitter.

"Beyond any doubt, Lucien Favre is a great professional and person."
