Following his €67 million (R1.1 billion) transfer from Juventus, Bayern Munich's newest centre-back Matthijs de Ligt has spoken about the move.
The 22-year-old decided to call time on his three-year stint in Turin last month when he made the switch to Munich.
De Ligt joined the Bianconeri from Ajax Amsterdam back in 2019, and while in southern Europe, was able to capture the Scudetto, Coppa Italia and Supercoppa Italiana titles.
Having now traded Serie A for the Bundesliga, the Netherlands international has revealed his rationale behind wanting to join the Bavarian giants.
"In June, Bayern Munich got in touch and I was immediately interested."
The transfer ensures that the Dutchman is the second-most expensive signing in the club's history, but he insisted that the pressure of playing for Bayern is a non-issue.
"When you play for big clubs like Bayern Munich, you always have pressure," De Ligt added.
"The style of play here suits me because the team is offensive-oriented."
De Ligt is one of five new faces that have arrived at the Allianz Arena during this transfer window, joining African duo Sadio Mane and Noussair Mazraoui, French teenager Mathys Tel and compatriot Ryan Gravenberch.
