Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer has revealed why he is not scared to face Juventus striker Cristiano Ronaldo.

The 2014 FIFA World Cup winner has come up against many of the world's best forwards during his time with both Bayern and the Germany national team, and has racked up an impressive number of trophies in the process.
The shot-stopper has also become renowned not only for his sharp reflexes, but also the way he involves himself in play as a "sweeper 'keeper".
Speaking to 51 Das FC Bayern Magazin recently regarding the challenge of facing Ronaldo, he said: "The difference is that I know Cristiano Ronaldo better than many others from our many duels. I'm not saying: 'Oh, here comes Ronaldo, I must be scared.'"

Talking about one-on-one battles during matches against opponents such as Ronaldo, he added: "Don't get me wrong, I'm not keen on situations like this, I'm primarily thinking of the team, but if I can prove myself, I want to be there."
When quizzed about the ideal modern-day goalkeeper, and his approach to the role, he answered: "The striker is the first defender, they always say – I think the goalkeeper should be the first attacker these days."
