German Bundesliga Wrap: Bayer Leverkusen Jump To Second Spot

Bayer Leverkusen leapfrogged RB Leipzig into second spot after thrashing Schalke 3-0 at the VELTINS-Arena on Sunday evening.

The visitors went ahead courtesy of an own goal from Malick Thiaw in the 10th minute.

Julian Baumgartlinger extended the lead on 67 minutes before Patrik Schick wrapped the win for Leverkusen with 12 minutes left on the clock.

Schalke did have a chance to bag a consolation, but Steven Skrzybski was unable to convert from the penalty spot.

Stuttgart got back to winning ways in the German top flight with a 2-1 victory away to Werder Bremen.

Silas Wamangituka opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 30th minute, before comleted his brace in 91st minutes.

Davie Selke's 93rd minute strike proved to be nothing more than a consolation for Bremen, who find themselves in 12th spot.
