Paco Alcacer, who is on loan at BVB from Barcelona this season, once again came off the bench to help his side to another three points after scoring the winner in "Der Klassiker" to see Dortmund go seven points clear of Bayern at the top of the league table.

With his winning strike, he broke a Bundesliga record that stood for 55 years in becoming the quickest player to score eight goals in the German top flight, according to Bundesliga.com.

Alcacer smashed the previous record set by Hamburg's Gert "Charly" Doerfel in 1963, who needed 519 minutes to score his first eight goals – the BVB striker needed only 218 minutes to reach eight Bundesliga goals, scoring at an incredible rate of one goal every 29 minutes.

His current scoring rate is also the best in the league's history, bettering Gerd Muller's. The Bayern Munich legend scored his 365 league goals in 427 appearances, a rate of one goal every 105 minutes.

Overall, seven of Alcacer's eight Bundesliga goals came in substitute appearances, with only Eintracht Frankfurt's Luka Jovic having scored more league goals than the Spaniard in 2018/19 so far.
