Bundesliga wrap: Bayern Munich continue winning start

Bayern Munich maintained their perfect start after a comfortable 2-0 victory over Wolfsburg on Sunday afternoon at Allianz Arena.

The Bavarians were unchanged from the 6-1 demolition of Eintracht Frankfurt in their opener, as Jamal Musiala and Thomas Muller flanked two strikers Serge Gnabry and Sadio Mane upfront.

Mane found the back of the net for the hosts midway through the first stanza with a tap-in after a square pass by Gnabry but the goal was chalked off for offside by the Video Assistant Referee (VAR).

Musiala eventually broke the deadlock for Julian Nagelsmann's charges just after the half-hour mark with a clinical strike after a turn on the edge of the box.

Bayern doubled their lead on the stroke of half-time after Joshua Kimmich unleashed a strike in a crowded area that took a deflection off Muller and wrong-footed goalkeeper Koen Casteels.

The Bavarians topped the table with six points, equal on points with second-placed Borussia Dortmund but boast a superior difference while Wolfsburg dropped down to 14th on the table with one point.

Nagelsmann's troops will have a week's rest before they travel to VfL Bochum on Sunday evening while Wolfsburg will be looking for their first win at home against Schalke next Saturday in the afternoon.

Mainz and Union Berlin blemished their perfect starts to the campaign after playing to a goalless draw on Sunday afternoon at Mewa Arena.

The first stanza did not produce much goal-mouth action as both sides were conservative due to the scorching heat.

However, as the heat receded in the second stanza after some clouds appeared, the sides came to life, with end to end attacks but neither were clinical, as they shared the spoils.

Union settled for fifth spot on the log with four points, with an almost identical record as Mainz in sixth place.

Mainz will restart their season away to Augsburg next Saturday in the afternoon while Union will host RB Leipzig later in the evening.

RB Leipzig 2-2 FC Koln
Bayern Leverkusen 1-2 Augsburg
Schalke 2-2 Borussia Monchengladbach
Hertha Berlin 1-1 Eintracht Frankfurt
Hoffenheim 3-2 Bochum
Werder Bremen 2-2 Stuttgart

Freiburg 1-3 Borussia Dortmund
